Heading into the festive season – here are a few fun local activities to try

The most wonderful time of the year is almost upon us! Filling up spare time and occupying the kids can be daunting and costly. We’ve put together a short list of inexpensive, unique, local, and family-friendly activities that are a must to try this festive season.

Feasting on Florida Road

Florida Road has a selection of restaurants all boasting something special. Make sure to walk the road to find something to suit, whether it’s a romantic night or family fun.

Here’s a good place to start to find the perfect spot.

The uMhlanga forest boardwalk and the delightful Forest Café

A walk in the trees, fresh air, and tasty drinks are the order of the day at the Forest Café, located at the northern end of the new uMhlanga boardwalk. The uMhlanga UIP’s new boardwalk extends from the uMhlanga promenade into the uMhlanga Lagoon Nature Reserve which is managed by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and with whom the UIP collaborates closely. Made from recycled plastic, the raised, wheelchair-friendly boardwalk’s design provides viewing decks overlooking the beach and lagoon. The Forest café is open from 6 am – 6 pm Monday to Sunday.
