Following an annual perception survey conducted during the 2021/22 festive season, the Florida Road Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) reports that most locals and visitors surveyed said that the thriving precinct is safe, clean and green.

Why do we need the UIP?

The Florida Road UIP was established by local commercial property owners in 2013 to combat urban decay, protect property values and deliver an exceptional experience of place for everyone to enjoy.

This is done by delivering supplementary cleaning, greening, maintenance and security services to the area which extends the full length of Florida Rd from Lilian Ngoyi Road intersection in the south to Innes Road in the north and including properties on both sides of the road.

The UIP conducts its annual survey to better understand people’s perceptions of the precinct.

Safe & clean

During the day 80% of respondents said they felt safe or reasonably safe in the precinct while 72% said they felt safe or reasonably safe at night. 59% said cleanliness of public spaces exceeds expectations or are great. 92% said they would recommend Florida Road to family and friends.

About the results Florida Road UIP precinct manager Andrew Fynn says: “This year’s results demonstrate that our team is delivering on its mandate to keep Florida Road safe, clean and green. We encourage people who live, work and visit the precinct to please participate in the survey as it’s very useful in helping us understand how we are doing on the ground and what we can do to improve our services.”
