On 1 December the annual Hospice Tree of Lights ceremony will take place in Jameson Park at the top of Florida Rd from 6pm with the official “switch on” taking place at 7:45pm (weather permitting). There will be carol singing, with food stalls available so bring along your blanket, candles and picnic basket.

The Tree of Lights is driven by Highway Hospice as a unique way to remember a loved one and shine a beacon of love and hope throughout December. “This special tree is not only about the remembrance of loved ones, but aims at celebrating life and those who bring joy to your life”, says Heather from Highway Hospice.

The Tree of Lights has been shinning bright since Durban’s adoption of the project in 1992, when the 12 meter tree filled with 9 000 was first placed in West Street.

Members of the public area invited to contribute R60 to sponsor a globe, with corporates are invited to sponsor the star on the top of the tree for R10 000 as a shining symbol of your love, care and concern for the community. Your company name will have a special page at the front of the Book of Remembrance and will receive mention on all Hospice’s social media as well as being mentioned on the night. If you wish to sponsor a globe or the star visit www.mylight.co.za  or contact Heather on 031 208 6110 / heather@hospice.co.za
