As part of Holdens Kwikspars efforts to reduce its plastic usage, it has now introduced paper bags as well as a few material bags for their patrons. Although plastic bags will still be on offer, Holdens are hoping to encourage customers to stop purchasing plastic bags altogether.
The decision was put in place after an online survey conducted by Holdens showed that 95% of their shopper would be willing to pay a little extra for a good cause.
This is the first step in the stores efforts to positively affect the environment with the next step being addressing plastic straws.
The SPAR plastic bags are 75c each and the gorgeous branded paper bags are R2.80. The new paper bags are much bigger, have a handle and of course are much kinder on the environment. The Florida Rd UIP salutes Holdens Kwikspar and hopes this is the start of more such initiatives.
